The Role

We're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Financial Control team within the wider Bupa Dental Care Finance function on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This role is responsible for managing the Bupa Dental Care balance sheet, cashflow and month-end reporting process. You'll play a key role in both internal and external audits, statutory accounts submissions, and will work closely with the Bupa Tax team on corporation tax and VAT matters.

As a senior member of the team, you'll also provide guidance, support and oversight to two Financial Accountants, helping to ensure high standards across financial reporting and control activities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage month-end activities, ensuring all tasks are completed within agreed timelines, including balance sheet and cashflow reporting, IFRS submissions and Solvency II quarterly requirements.
• Ensure all actuals are reported accurately within Oracle and fully reconciled to Tagetik.
• Review, challenge and support the work of two Financial Accountants, providing guidance and technical expertise.
• Reconcile and review balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving any queries or issues.
• Lead the half-year, interim and year-end audit process, acting as a key contact for external auditors and overseeing the production of the consolidated trial balance.
• Ensure statutory accounts for all Group companies are prepared in line with FRS102 and submitted accurately and on time.
• Partner with the Bupa Tax team on corporation tax and VAT matters.
• Support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of internal financial controls.
• Ensure capital expenditure is accounted for in line with accounting standards and that the Fixed Asset Register is maintained accurately.
• Oversee lease accounting and ensure compliance with IFRS16 requirements.
• Support strategic finance projects and provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager, Financial Reporting, including initiatives such as general ledger system implementation and legal entity rationalisation.
