Senior Financial Accountant (12-Month FTC)
Location: Stratford, London
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (High potential for permanent conversion)
About the Opportunity
A leading and rapidly growing organization based in Stratford, London, is seeking an experienced, proactive, and commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant for a 12-Month Fixed Term Contract.
This is a pivotal role within the core finance team, offering complete ownership over the month-end process, comprehensive P&L management, and balance sheet integrity. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading the business through its year-end process and driving the annual audit to a smooth and successful sign-off. Given the trajectory of the team and business, there is a strong possibility for this role to transition into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Leadership: Full ownership of the end-to-end month-end closing process, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
- P&L & Balance Sheet Control: Complete oversight and control of the profit and loss statement and balance sheet, including complex reconciliations, variance analysis, and commentary for senior leadership.
- Audit & Year-End Sign-Off: Lead the preparation of financial statements and audit files, working directly with external auditors to secure year-end sign-off within tight deadlines.
- Financial Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, procedures, and governance across all accounting operations.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate across business functions to resolve complex accounting issues, challenge variance drivers, and present financial performance clearly to leadership.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate current finance workflows to drive operational efficiencies and improve system capabilities.

Candidate Profile
- Qualification: Fully ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
- Experience: Proven track record operating as a Senior Financial Accountant, Financial Accountant, or Financial Controller within a fast-paced environment.
- Month-End & Ownership: Strong experience taking full ownership of P&L control, balance sheet reconciliations, and complex month-end procedures.
- Audit Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience managing external audit processes and delivering signed-off year-end statutory accounts.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of IFRS / UK GAAP with advanced Excel skills and proficiency in major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics).
- Location: Ability to work from the office in Stratford, London, on a hybrid basis.
