Ever tried balancing hands on financial reporting with ownership of the accounting areas that attract the most scrutiny and judgement?
Join Lomond Group's Group Finance team in London, reporting to the Group Financial Controller and working in the office three days a week. As Senior Financial Accountant, you'll take ownership of some of the Group's most technically challenging accounting areas while helping ensure our financial reporting remains robust, consistent and well documented as the business continues to grow through acquisition.
This is a role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail while also influencing wider business decisions. You'll work closely with finance leadership, external auditors and colleagues across the Group, providing technical expertise, supporting acquisitions and helping develop the capability of the wider finance team.
What you'll be doing
- Act as a key technical accounting specialist across complex accounting areas including IFRS 16, IFRS 15, IAS 36 and financial instruments.
- Produce clear and well-supported technical accounting papers on new transactions, emerging issues and areas requiring judgement.
- Lead impairment reviews, including financial modelling, CGU analysis and supporting documentation.
- Maintain and enhance Group accounting policies to ensure consistent application across entities.
- Support financial due diligence and acquisition accounting activities, helping identify accounting risks and ensuring a smooth integration process.
- Own designated month end reporting areas, delivering accurate outputs and complex journal postings on time.
- Take a leading role in year end statutory accounts preparation, with ownership of technical disclosures and judgemental accounting areas.
- Support Group consolidation activities, including acquisitions, intercompany eliminations and exceptional items.
- Act as a key contact for external auditors, providing technical support and responding to audit queries.
- Coach and support Financial Accountants, helping strengthen technical understanding and improve reporting quality across the team.

What you'll need
We're not just looking for someone who fits our team; we want to be a good fit for you too! We're looking for individuals with qualities such as:
- Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with strong technical financial reporting experience.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and FRS 102, particularly IFRS 16, IFRS 15 and IAS 36.
- Experience preparing or reviewing technical accounting papers and statutory account disclosures.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability.
- Ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach, strong attention to detail and the confidence to work independently on judgemental accounting matters.
