Lead Financial Adviser with Succession Opportunity

£70,000–£90,000 + benefits

An opportunity to inherit the future, not start from scratch.

We are an established, high-quality Independent Financial Advisory firm seeking an exceptional financial planner to work alongside the founder. There is the potential for the right candidate to become a future leader of the business.

This is a planned succession appointment.

The successful candidate will join as a senior adviser with proven work winning skills and progressively assume greater commercial and leadership responsibility over time.

The firm intends to transition to an Employee Ownership Trust in 2029, by which point we expect this individual to be positioned to help lead the business.

The opportunity

You will inherit none of the risks of starting a firm from scratch, but have the opportunity to shape, lead in the development of an established business.

Initially, your focus will be on advising sophisticated private clients, entrepreneurs and business owners, developing new relationships and strengthening our network of professional introducers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Working closely with the founder, your remit will broaden progressively into strategy, leadership, people and commercial management as part of an agreed succession plan.

The transition will be deliberate and earned, giving both parties the opportunity to build the trust required for a successful transfer of leadership.

The individual

You are likely to be a successful adviser within a respected IFA practice and already well regarded by clients and colleagues.

You may not be actively looking to move.

What could change that is the opportunity to progress beyond employment into leadership, and ultimately stewardship of a substantial advisory business.

You will be qualified to at least Level 4, with Chartered Financial Planner and/or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) status strongly preferred.

You will combine:

  • Strong technical capability, including complex financial planning.
  • Credibility with high-net-worth clients, entrepreneurs and business owners.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proven record of generating significant new business.
  • The ability to develop productive relationships with professional introducers.
  • Commercial judgement and an interest in how a successful advisory firm operates.
  • High levels of organisation, self-motivation and personal accountability.
  • The ambition and potential to become an effective business leader.

Previous experience of running an IFA firm is not essential. The purpose of working alongside the founder is to develop the additional commercial and leadership experience required to take responsibility for the business.
