About the Role
We are looking for a commercially minded and technically strong Senior Finance Analyst to support the FP&A Manager and provide flexible support across accounting and reporting. The role will help deliver accurate month-end reporting, robust balance sheet control, budgeting and forecasting, overhead analysis and clear performance insight for stakeholders across the business.
The successful candidate will combine strong accounting discipline with analytical curiosity, high attention to detail and confident communication. They will work collaboratively with finance and non-finance colleagues, translate financial information into practical insight and proactively improve processes, controls and reporting. The role would suit an ACCA, ACA or CIMA finalist, newly qualified accountant, or an individual with equivalent experience who is ready to broaden their exposure in industry.
Key Responsibilities
Planning, Forecasting and Overheads
- Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts and scenario analysis by coordinating inputs, validating assumptions and maintaining planning models.
- Own or support defined overhead cost areas, including cost-centre reporting, headcount and spend analysis.
- Partner with department leads to improve forecast accuracy, explain performance and identify cost-control opportunities.
Business Partnering and Improvement
- Build effective relationships across Finance and the wider business, providing responsive support.
- Identify and implement improvements to reporting, reconciliations, controls and workflows, using systems and automation to increase efficiency and data quality.
- Provide cover and flexible assistance across accounting and reporting activities as priorities require.
Accounting and Financial Control
- Support the month-end and year-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany entries and review of ledger activity.
- Support the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and drive timely resolution.
- Maintain strong financial controls, clear supporting documentation and accurate accounting records.
- Support internal and external audit requests and help ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies and standards.

Management Reporting and Analysis - Overheads
- Prepare timely monthly management reporting for the overhead
- Produce clear variance commentary against budget, forecast and prior periods, highlighting risks, opportunities and recommended actions.
- Respond to ad hoc analysis requests and translate complex financial data into concise, decision-useful insight.
Essential Credentials
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA finalist/newly qualified, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong grounding in management and financial accounting, including month-end close and balance sheet control.
- Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with finance systems and large datasets.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and sound judgement.

Knowledge
- Management and financial accounting principles; month-end processes; accruals, prepayments and journals; balance sheet substantiation; budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis; financial controls, data integrity and the end-to-end flow of transactions through the ledger and financial statements.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience in an accounting, management reporting, FP&A or finance analyst role; preparation of management accounts and reconciliations; investigation of variances; collaboration with budget holders; and delivery to recurring reporting deadlines.
