Role Description
Review and investigate escalated sanctions, screening, transaction monitoring, and other financial crime alerts to assess potential financial crime risks and ensure appropriate outcomes
Conduct complex financial crime investigations, analysing customer activity, transactional behaviour, and relevant intelligence to identify potential money laundering, sanctions, fraud, or other financial crime concerns
Perform AML, KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews for new and existing customers, providing independent challenge and recommendations prior to approval
Undertake Politically Exposed Person (PEP), sanctions, and adverse media screening reviews, assessing findings and providing clear risk-based recommendations
Review and assess fraud-related matters, including payment and debit card fraud cases, providing oversight, challenge, and guidance to ensure risks are appropriately managed
Assess financial crime and fraud risks and determine whether internal escalation, suspicious activity reporting, or other regulatory reporting obligations should be considered
Review and respond to information requests from regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, correspondent banks, and other financial institutions
Support the ongoing development and enhancement of the Bank's financial crime framework, including policies, systems, controls, monitoring, and governance processes
Analyse financial crime data, trends, and management information to identify emerging risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement
Prepare management information, reporting, and presentations for senior management, and executive committees
Assess the design and effectiveness of the Bank's financial crime controls and recommend enhancements where required
Provide advice, guidance, and subject matter expertise to business and operational teams on financial crime and fraud-related matters
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties to support the Bank's financial crime risk management framework
Support regulatory reporting and compliance submissions as required
Remain up to date with changes in AML, sanctions, fraud prevention, and wider financial crime regulations, ensuring regulatory developments are appropriately considered and implemented

- 3-5 years' experience in a Financial Crime, AML, Compliance, or Fraud-related role within a regulated financial institution
- Sound understanding of AML, KYC, sanctions, transaction monitoring, and fraud risk management
- Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to make well-reasoned, risk-based decisions
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence and challenge constructively where appropriate
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
