FINANCIAL PLANNER – EXETER
SIX FIGURE BASIC | UNCAPPED BONUS | DEVON & CORNWALL | HIGHLY FLEXIBLE WORKING
Opportunities of this calibre are rare. One of the UK's leading wealth management businesses is looking for an experienced Financial Planner to take over an established portfolio of HNW clients across Devon and Cornwall, with a remuneration package that rewards both the quality of service you deliver to existing clients and the new business you generate alongside it.
This is a role where the foundations are already in place. You will inherit a quality client book, work alongside a dedicated Investment Manager in the Exeter office, and have the full backing of a paraplanning and administration team so your time is spent where it matters most - with your clients. The business is highly flexible on working pattern and is happy for the right person to be in the office one to two days per week, with the remainder of your time structured around your clients and your own working style.
Why this role stands out:
- A six figure basic salary - with no requirement to validate your salary through new business generation before bonus payments begin
- A percentage of the revenue from the existing client book you inherit, providing immediate and meaningful earnings from day one
- A percentage of new initial fee income you generate
- A further percentage of new ongoing recurring revenue you bring in - creating genuine long-term earning potential as your book grows
- New business comes naturally through referrals from the clients you take over and through working alongside the Investment Manager in the Exeter office, with full freedom to network externally and build your own professional connections
- Full paraplanning and administrative support, plus a comprehensive benefits package including an attractive employer pension contribution

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
