I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You will work closely with two Financial Advisers, supporting them across the full client journey and ensuring that client work is progressed accurately, proactively and efficiently. You will have a strong understanding of the advice process and associated workflow, coordinating the relevant parties to keep client work moving efficiently while minimising the administrative burden on both advisers and clients.
The role goes beyond processing administration. You will build strong relationships with clients, understand what is happening across the advisers’ client banks and anticipate what needs to happen next. Clients should feel confident that their instructions are understood, while advisers should know that work is being managed and progressed without needing to continually follow up.
As a senior member of the Client Account Management team, you will also work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider team and contribute to team development and process improvements where appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build strong working relationships with your Financial Advisers, providing high-quality administrative support across their client banks.
- Develop trusted relationships with clients, becoming a key point of contact and ensuring communication is clear, proactive and consistent.
- Coordinate the administration surrounding new business, annual reviews and ongoing client servicing.
- Prepare client meeting documentation and ensure advisers have the information required ahead of meetings.
- Liaise with providers, platforms and other third parties to obtain information and progress client instructions.
- Process and coordinate business across pensions, ISAs, investment accounts, bonds, VCTs, EISs, protection and other financial planning products.
- Maintain accurate and compliant client records and use Finura’s CRM and client portal proactively to support a personalised service and ensure potential advice opportunities are not overlooked.
- Monitor outstanding work, manage deadlines and proactively progress cases through to completion.
- Identify potential delays or issues before they become problems and take ownership of finding an appropriate solution.
- Continually look for ways to improve processes and resolve potential issues before they impact the client or adviser.
- Work collaboratively with advisers, paraplanners and colleagues across the Client Account Management team.
- Contribute to wider team development and process improvements where appropriate.
- Take ownership of your own professional development and continue building your technical knowledge.

The Ideal Employee:
You will be comfortable supporting advisers across both new business and ongoing client servicing and understand that strong financial planning administration is not simply about completing tasks.
You will be someone who takes ownership, keeps clients informed and ensures work continues moving without needing to be chased.
You should be confident communicating with clients and comfortable building strong working relationships with advisers.
A good working knowledge of core financial planning products including pensions, ISAs, investment accounts, bonds, VCTs, EISs and protection will be important.
You will be organised, proactive and capable of managing several priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Discretion and sound judgement when handling client and management information will also be important.
Industry qualifications are supported and encouraged but are not a requirement; Finura place equal value on demonstrated experience, capability and approach.
Experience required:
You will have at least four years’ relevant experience within an IFA, wealth management or financial planning environment and a strong understanding of the financial advice process.
Experience within a new-business-focused financial planning environment, alongside ongoing client servicing and annual reviews, would be particularly relevant.
