  • Leading the budgeting and forecasting process – designing the calendar, templates and methodology for annual budgets, rolling forecasts and long-range plans.
  • Producing regular forecasts (e.g. monthly/quarterly) and updating outlook for revenue, costs, cash and key operational metrics in collaboration with department heads.
  • Performing detailed variance analysis (actual vs budget/forecast/prior year), identifying root causes and translating these into clear narratives for senior stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining financial models to support strategic initiatives, investment cases, headcount planning and scenario analysis.
  • Developing and tracking KPIs and performance dashboards that give visibility on commercial performance across the business.
  • Partnering with leaders across functions to improve financial accountability, challenge assumptions and support better commercial decision-making.
  • Contributing to the design and enhancement of financial systems, reporting tools and data processes to improve speed, accuracy and insight.

  • Mentoring and developing FP&A and finance talent as the organisation scales.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
