About The Team
The Financial Systems & Development Team supports a range of corporate financial applications across the Council. Working within Business Finance and Pensions, the team is responsible for maintaining, developing and supporting business-critical systems used across Finance, HR, Payroll and Pensions services. The team works collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers to deliver system improvements, provide technical support and ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
About The Role
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Financial Systems Control & Development Officer to maintain and develop the Council's key financial systems and provide technical 2nd line support across our Finance ERP, HR, Payroll and Pensions systems.
As a Senior Financial Systems Control & Development Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining, developing and enhancing the Council's critical financial systems, supporting Finance, HR, Payroll and Pensions services. Working as part of a specialist team, you will develop and implement system improvements, produce functional and technical specifications, provide expert 2nd line support, and ensure systems remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose.
You will collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders and project teams to deliver innovative solutions, manage system upgrades, testing, audits and change processes, and proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure business continuity and the effective delivery of public services. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a first-class service and support continuous improvement in the Council's service delivery.

About You
You will have a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience, together with strong technical knowledge of business applications and systems and experience of supporting and maintaining business-critical systems.
You will be an effective communicator, able to explain technical solutions to a wide range of stakeholders and build strong working relationships. Experience within HR, Payroll, Pensions, Finance or Income Management systems is desirable, particularly with products such as MHR iTrent, Altair or Civica Pensions, Unit4 ERP and Civica Income Management systems. A relevant professional qualification in HR, Payroll, Pensions or Finance would also be advantageous.
You must be a strong team player, possess drive and initiative and be able to work in a disciplined environment. Further information about the requirements for this role can be found in the role profile.
