London / Hybrid | 8–10 week initial contract | £600–£800 per day
Extension: Potential involvement through development, implementation and UAT

This role requires hands-on experience in financial systems architecture and is specifically for a Senior Financial Systems Architect – Ledger, Reconciliation & Payments. It is not a generalist Project Management or programme management position.

The Opportunity

HilBX is developing CORE, our proprietary fintech platform supporting crypto-collateralised lending and digital-asset custody.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Financial Systems / Ledger Architect to personally design and specify the financial control architecture sitting behind CORE.

You will take the project from discovery and process mapping through to detailed, development-ready specification, working directly with Executive Management, Finance, Treasury, Compliance and Technology.

We are looking for someone who can make the fundamental financial architecture decisions themselves — not simply manage a team or programme delivering them.

The Objective

Our objective is to create an architecture whereby:

  • Every customer, every loan, every pound, every cryptoasset and every transaction is recorded, reconciled, controlled and reportable through CORE.

CORE must not simply record what was instructed to happen. It must establish what actually happened, reconcile the two, and automatically identify exceptions requiring investigation.

What You Will Design

The architecture will include:

  • Double-entry customer and loan sub-ledgers
  • End-to-end loan financial lifecycle and transaction architecture
  • Principal, interest, fees and customer balance calculations
  • Automated inbound and outbound fiat reconciliation
  • Digital-asset and collateral reconciliation
  • Crypto-to-fiat settlement and liquidation reconciliation
  • Automated transaction matching and reconciliation by exception
  • Exception-management workflows
  • Treasury and funding ledger requirements
  • Daily and month-end financial controls
  • Management, Treasury, Board and regulatory MI
  • Accounting and general-ledger integration
  • API, webhook and transaction-data requirements
  • Complete financial audit trail
  • Development specifications and UAT requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Financial Event Catalogue

A key deliverable will be a comprehensive Financial Event Catalogue defining the financial, accounting and reconciliation treatment for each event within CORE:

Trigger → Source System → Transaction ID → Debit → Credit → External Reference → Reconciliation Rule → Exception Rule → Accounting Treatment → MI Treatment

This will provide a clear, auditable framework showing how every financial event flows through CORE and how it is subsequently reconciled and reported.

Who We Are Looking For

You should have significant hands-on financial systems architecture experience within one or more of:

  • Fintech
  • Banking
  • Lending
  • Payments
  • Core Banking
  • Financial Markets Infrastructure

You should have personally designed or specified several of the following:

  • Double-entry ledgers and sub-ledgers
  • Lending transaction architecture
  • Payment flows
  • Automated reconciliation
  • Transaction matching
  • Financial controls
  • Treasury and funding flows
  • Exception-management frameworks
  • API-driven financial infrastructure
  • General-ledger integration
  • Management and regulatory reporting

Experience within regulated UK financial services is highly desirable.

Digital-asset, custody, wallet or crypto-to-fiat experience would be advantageous, but proven ledger, payments and reconciliation architecture experience is more important than general crypto experience.

Relevant previous roles may include:

  • Financial Systems Architect
  • Ledger Architect
  • Core Banking Architect
  • Payments Architect
  • Reconciliation Architect
  • Solution Architect
  • Financial Systems Product Lead

This role is unlikely to suit candidates whose experience is primarily in general Project Management, programme management or high-level technology architecture without direct responsibility for designing financial ledger and reconciliation environments.

Key Deliverable

The successful candidate will produce a comprehensive:

CORE Financial Control, Ledger, Reconciliation & Management Information Architecture

The output must be sufficiently detailed for our internal Technology team to convert directly into development workstreams, user stories and sprints without having to make fundamental financial architecture decisions during development.

How to Apply

Please send your CV together with a brief description of the most relevant financial systems architecture project you have personally designed or delivered.

We are particularly interested in projects involving transaction ledgers, lending platforms, payments, automated reconciliation, core banking or financial controls.

Please briefly outline:

  • What you personally designed
  • The ledger and reconciliation environment involved
  • The level of specification you produced
  • Whether you remained involved through development, implementation and UAT

To reiterate, applications that only describe general programme or Project Management experience are unlikely to be suitable for this assignment.
