Senior FinOps Data Engineer | London | 6–12 Month Contract

We are working with a leading global investment manager to appoint a Senior FinOps Data Engineer to design and build data products that provide a trusted view of AI, cloud and data-platform cost and consumption.

This is a senior hands-on role focused on delivering a Central AI Cost & Usage Data Product, covering invoice reconciliation, cost attribution, showback, forecasting and optimisation across Azure, AWS, Snowflake and AI providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of FinOps data products and production pipelines
  • Build secure, scalable SQL/Python ELT/ETL pipelines
  • Integrate billing, invoice, pricing, usage and telemetry data
  • Design canonical cost models, attribution logic and governed data schemas
  • Develop Power BI semantic models and dashboards
  • Deliver cost optimisation insights across cloud, AI, Snowflake and licensing
  • Reconcile detailed usage against invoices, pricing, credits and commitments
  • Establish data engineering standards, quality controls and operational processes
  • Partner with Cloud, Data, Finance, Procurement, Security and Architecture teams

Key skills & experience

  • Strong production Data Engineering background
  • Advanced SQL and Python
  • Excellent dimensional modelling and ELT/ETL experience
  • Experience with REST APIs, billing data and enterprise telemetry
  • Hands-on Snowflake, Azure and AWS experience
  • Strong understanding of FinOps, cost allocation, showback/chargeback and optimisation
  • Experience with AWS CUR, Azure Cost Management and Snowflake cost/usage telemetry
  • Power BI / DAX experience highly desirable
  • Knowledge of FOCUS, dbt, Airflow/Azure Data Factory or Terraform advantageous
  • Financial services / regulated enterprise experience beneficial

The opportunity

This is a 6–12 month engagement for a senior engineer who can take ownership of a complex FinOps data workstream and help establish scalable standards across the organisation.
