Senior Fire Engineer – Technical Advisory & Building Safety
Location: Hybrid / Remote
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 per annum + expensed travel
We are partnering with a premier multi-disciplinary consultancy specialising in building safety, ESG, and technical due diligence that is expanding its UK footprint. While you will write fire strategies as part of the core delivery, your broader focus allows you to operate as a trusted Technical Advisor, reviewing complex third-party fire strategies, inspecting high-profile assets, and advising top-tier real estate funds, developers, and corporate clients.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Fire Strategy Authoring & Design Reviews: Write robust fire strategies and review third-party schemes and compartmentation plans across RIBA Stages 3, 4, 5, and 6.
- Building Safety Act (BSA) Advisory: Lead safety case reviews and risk assessments for occupied higher-risk buildings under Part 4 of the BSA.
- Technical Due Diligence (TDD): Conduct desktop reviews and site inspections for major property acquisitions and disposals across the UK.
- Quality Assurance & Client Monitoring: Represent developers on design-and-build projects, overseeing contractor teams to ensure fire safety standards aren't compromised during construction.
- Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration: Work closely with a collaborative team of architects, structural engineers, and fire safety experts across the UK and Ireland, sharing real-world project insights and lessons learned.
What We’re Looking For
- Fire Strategy Expertise: Deep familiarity with Approved Document B (ADB), BS 9999, BS 9991, and relevant UK fire safety regulations.
- Consultancy & Site Experience: Proven consultancy background writing or evaluating fire strategies, backed by practical experience on construction sites.
- Risk Assessment Knowledge: Exposure to structured hazard identification and fire risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZID) is highly desirable.
- Great Storytelling & Communication: The ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly, explain the "why" behind fire safety decisions, and engage constructively with client teams.
- Self-Motivated & Autonomous: Comfortable managing your own diary across desktop reviews and periodic site visits.
