Senior Fire Engineer (Active Fire Protection Systems)
Founded in January 2016, OFR Consultants is an independent, employee-owned fire engineering practice. Since its inception with just two founding members, OFR has grown to a team of over 150 technical experts, operating from offices in Manchester, Banbury, Bath, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, and London.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Fire Engineer (Active Fire Protection Systems) to join our team. This opportunity is available across all eight of our UK office locations.
About you:
- Proven experience in active fire protection systems, covering performance specifications, options studies, design, site inspections, and reporting as well as systems design knowledge.
- Practical knowledge of the construction, consultancy, and property industry, including relative UK standards, guidelines, and acceptable solutions.
- Proficiency in fire protection systems and standards including:
- Fire sprinkler systems: BS EN 12845, BS 9251, LPC Rules
- Water mist systems: BS 8458, BS 8489, BS EN 14972
- Gaseous fire suppression: BS EN 15004
- Wet and dry fire mains: BS 9990
- Knowledge of technical software (e.g., Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Revit) and Microsoft Office.
- Suitable qualifications may include a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Fire Engineering, or a related discipline; industry-recognised qualifications; membership of a professional organisation (e.g., IFE/CIBSE); or equivalent experience gained through specialist active fire protection roles.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent workload and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commercial awareness and project management experience.
- Initiative and drive to contribute to OFR's continued growth.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage low to medium active fire protection system projects.
- Carry out conceptual systems design analyses.
- Coordinate design and documentation with other engineering services.
- Prepare reports and submissions, including performance specifications, options studies, design and technical notes, site inspections, and reporting.
- Apply relevant active fire protection systems standards, guidance, and documentation.
- Provide technical support to colleagues on active fire protection systems.
- Assist in winning business and generating leads.
- Contribute to colleague training on active fire protection systems.
