Senior Fire Engineer - Design
£60k basic + Extensive Benefits Package
Location
Leeds
Role
Permanent - 2-3 days office per week
This is a rare opportunity with one of the UK's most respected independent fire engineering consultancies where it has grown from two founding members just over 10 years ago, to a team of over 130 technical experts across eight UK offices. It is an employee-owned business, which shapes everything about how it operates so there is genuine investment in people, and a culture that consistently backs up the reputation.
They are looking for a Senior Fire Engineer with a specialism in active fire protection systems to join the team in Leeds, although other locations in the UK will be considered.
The Role
You'll be leading and managing projects across the full active fire protection spectrum to include conceptual design, performance specifications, options studies, site inspections, and technical reporting. Systems knowledge required spans sprinkler (BS EN 12845, BS 9251, LPC Rules), water mist (BS 8458, BS 8489, BS EN 14972), gaseous suppression (BS EN 15004), and wet and dry fire mains (BS 9990). Alongside the technical delivery, you'll coordinate with other engineering disciplines, provide guidance to colleagues, contribute to training, and play a role in business development and bid activity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
