Senior Firmware Engineer
6 months Inside IR35 - 3 days p/week on site in Whiteley - Active SC required
Job Role
Responsible for embedded product development to deliver world-class wireless products across a portfolio of projects. The role includes designing, implementing, and testing FPGA components for use in Software Defined Radio (SDR) devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop FPGA firmware using VHDL.
- Develop embedded software and hardware drivers in C/C++.
- Create and maintain RTL testbenches and support verification activities.
- Produce technical documentation, requirements, and interface designs.
- Research and evaluate new technologies.
- Support product introduction, customer validation, and production testing.
- Provide technical support to internal teams, including Sales where required.

Essential
- Degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong VHDL development experience.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Linux.
- Experience with FPGA verification and RTL testbenches.
- Understanding of embedded software architecture and driver development.
- Experience using electronic test equipment.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Proactive problem-solving approach.

Desirable
- Experience with ModelSim or Questa.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Experience managing small technical projects or teams.
- JIRA and Microsoft Project experience.
- Knowledge of UML.
