Senior Fleet and Vehicle Administrator - Great step up and brilliant opportunity
Darlington | £40,000 - £50,000 basic + superb benefits | 35-hour week, Monday to Friday, every other Friday early finish at 3:30pm

Ready for your next step up? Whether you’re a Senior Fleet Coordinator or Assistant Fleet Manager ready to run your own fleet, a Transport Manager wanting a broader role, or a Fleet Manager looking for real ownership, this is the move.
A brilliant, well-established Darlington-based group is looking for a Fleet and Vehicle Asset Manager to take full control of its company vehicle fleet. You’ll own everything from buying the vehicles to keeping every driver safe, legal and on the road, reporting to the Head of Audit & Compliance with real visibility at senior level.
Is this you?
- You’ve worked hands-on in fleet or transport, whether running a fleet already or as the go-to person behind one.
- You know your compliance: tax, MOT, insurance, licence checks and ideally FORS.
- You’ve dealt with collisions, incidents and insurance claims, and you know how to keep drivers safe.
- You can lead people and confidently deal with drivers, managers, suppliers and senior leaders.
- You hold the Level 3 Diploma in Commercial Fleet Vehicle Management, or you have the equivalent experience.

What you’ll do
- Run the fleet management system and keep accurate records for every vehicle, driver and fuel card.
- Buy and negotiate fleet vehicles, and review supplier agreements to get the best deal.
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, replacements and hire, and keep the fleet the right size.
- Make sure every vehicle is taxed, MOT’d, insured and registered for road charging schemes.
- Own FORS Silver accreditation and prepare evidence for internal and external audits.
- Carry out driver licence checks and risk assessments, and deliver driver training such as winter driving.
- Investigate incidents and collisions, support insurance claims and work with HR, managers and solicitors.
- Manage telematics, ANPR equipment and driver health and safety kit.
- Monitor speeding, vehicle use and fuel spend, and manage PCNs with Finance and Operations.
- Report on fleet performance, collisions, damage and emissions, and help cut carbon as part of the Carbon Reduction Plan.
- Keep fleet policies up to date and brief the business on changes to vehicle legislation and DVLA rules.
- Manage your team, including holidays, rotas and recruitment.

You’ll also need
- GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C or above.
- Good Microsoft Office skills and confidence writing technical documents.
- A calm, organised and detail-focused approach, with high integrity.
- Experience of setting up new processes would be a real plus.
