About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Formulation Scientist to join our Research & Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing innovative, patient-focused pharmaceutical formulations that support Rosemont’s mission of improving patient outcomes.
Reporting to the Formulation & Innovation Manager, you will lead the development of robust and stable formulations from concept through to commercialisation, applying your scientific expertise to create high-quality products that meet regulatory, commercial, and patient needs across the UK, Europe, and United States.
This role requires the successful candidate to be based at our Leeds facility Monday – Friday each week.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently develop robust, stable, and patient-focused oral pharmaceutical formulations.
- Design and optimise formulations and manufacturing processes for new product development.
- Manage multiple development projects from early-stage approval through to scale-up and regulatory submission.
- Support the introduction of new products through cross-functional collaboration and project participation.
- Produce manufacturing methods and support technical transfer into commercial production.
- Develop protocols, reports, and validation documentation to support product development activities.
- Ensure stability programmes and regulatory requirements are fully met.
- Collaborate with Analytical Development teams to support analytical method development, validation, and transfer.
- Maintain accurate scientific records and documentation in compliance with internal procedures.
- Produce and review scientific documentation including SOPs, work instructions, protocols, reports, and COSHH assessments.
- Identify opportunities to improve products, processes, and development systems.
- Remain informed of emerging scientific developments and promote best practice across the business.
- Ensure all activities comply with GLP, cGMP, and relevant quality standards.

What We're Looking For:
Essential Requirements
- Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutics, or a related scientific discipline.
- Multiple years experience in a laboratory-based formulation development role.
- Experience within the generic pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong experience developing and optimising formulations from concept through to commercial launch.
- Experience working within UK/EU and US pharmaceutical regulatory environments.
- Strong understanding of GMP requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders.
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience developing sustained-release and modified-release oral formulations.
- Strong knowledge of polymers used in oral sustained-release dosage forms.
- Hands-on experience with ion-exchange resin complexation technologies.
- Hands-on experience with particle coating technologies.
- Experience with hot-melt granulation would be advantageous.
