Our client is an established technology business developing advanced, high-performance hardware and software products used in demanding applications around the world. They are looking for a Senior FPGA Engineer to join their development team in Oxford, taking ownership of FPGA design and verification across a new generation of technically challenging products.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll work alongside talented electronics, mechanical and software engineers, with exposure to the full product lifecycle rather than being limited to one small part of the development process.

You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Own FPGA design and verification across a range of sophisticated, high-speed hardware products.
- Develop and optimise VHDL-based FPGA designs, including algorithm implementation.
- Tackle challenging timing closure and performance optimisation problems.
- Work with high-speed interfaces including LVDS, PCIe, GMII and Ethernet technologies.
- Create robust testbenches and verification environments for new functionality.
- Review and improve existing VHDL and Verilog code.
- Collaborate closely with electronics, software and mechanical engineers to develop high-performing, commercially viable products.
- Help ensure designs are ready for manufacture, with appropriate test coverage, DFM and DFT considerations.
- Get involved from early-stage concepts and technical investigations right through to production and post-release support.
- Explore modern engineering approaches, including opportunities to use AI-assisted tools to enhance your development workflow.

About You
This could be a great fit if you’ve built strong experience developing FPGA-based products and enjoy taking ownership of technically demanding engineering problems. Our client’s wishlist includes:
- Strong commercial experience with VHDL, ideally including algorithm implementation.
- Good experience achieving FPGA timing closure.
- Knowledge of digital interface standards such as LVDS, PCIe and GMII.
- Experience creating testbenches and verification strategies.
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git or SVN.
- An understanding of high-speed digital design.
