Domestic Field Investigator
Location: United Kingdom
Salary: Negotiable + Car Allowance
Term: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Domestic Field Investigator to join a specialist Fraud team, investigating potentially fraudulent home insurance claims.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in insurance fraud investigations, home claims, loss adjusting, or claims handling who enjoys gathering evidence, interviewing customers, and getting to the facts of a claim.
You will manage your own caseload of potentially fraudulent household insurance claims, carrying out desktop investigations and field visits where required. The role involves speaking directly with policyholders, collecting witness statements, reviewing evidence, and producing detailed investigation reports.
No two cases are the same, making this a varied and rewarding role for someone with strong investigative skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in fraud detection.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate potentially fraudulent home insurance claims from referral through to conclusion.
- Conduct field visits and interviews with policyholders and other relevant parties.
- Gather, assess, and preserve evidence to support investigations.
- Review policy documents, coverage, terms, conditions, and endorsements.
- Obtain statements and maintain accurate case records.
- Carry out background and desktop enquiries using a range of information sources.
- Liaise with third parties, including credit reference agencies, insurers, and law enforcement where required.
- Negotiate claim settlements where appropriate and communicate claim repudiations when necessary.
- Produce clear and detailed investigation reports for insurers and stakeholders.
- Manage your own caseload and ensure investigations progress efficiently.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
