Job Title: Senior FOI Advisor
About the Role
University Hospitals Sussex is the subject of an important Independent Maternity Review (IMR), commissioned by the Department of Health on behalf of the Secretary of State. This is due to commence in October 2026 and is expected to last at least 3 years. We expect requests for information to increase while the review is ongoing. The Freedom of Information (FOI) Team is therefore looking for a highly-motivated and experienced FOI professional to undertake the role of Senior FOI Advisor.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the FOI process in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Section 45 FOI Code of Practice and Trust policy and procedures
- Ensuring that requests for information are logged, referred, and answered within the statutory time period relevant to the Act
- Drafting and issuing releases on behalf of the Trust in response to requests for information from the media, government, public, commercial entities, and patients

Key Requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Previous experience of working in an NHS/hospital environment would be advantageous
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience in analysing, interpreting, and presenting complex information with accuracy and attention to detail
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word and Excel
- Previous FOI experience is essential for this role
