Are you a passionate front-end developer who loves building accessible, high-performing digital experiences?
We're looking for an experienced Senior Front End Developer to join our development team and play a key role in delivering websites and digital products that create real social impact.
This is a predominantly hands-on development role (around 70%), where you'll build high-quality front-end solutions while providing leadership and support (around 30%) to a small team of two Front End Developers. You'll mentor the team, champion front-end best practice, and help shape how we deliver exceptional digital experiences for our charity and social enterprise clients.
You'll work closely with designers, strategists, back-end developers, project managers and senior leadership to continuously improve our front-end capability and engineering standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
Front End Development (Approximately 70%)
- Develop accessible, responsive and high-performing websites and digital products.
- Build modern front-end solutions using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Develop and maintain CMS themes and front-end architectures.
- Integrate front-end applications with APIs and third-party services.
- Champion accessibility, progressive enhancement, security and performance best practice.
- Review code and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards.
- Collaborate with designers and back-end developers to deliver outstanding user experiences.
- Contribute to technical discovery, solution design and estimation.

Team Leadership (Approximately 30%)
- Lead, mentor and support a small team of two Front End Developers.
- Foster a collaborative, creative and accountable team culture.
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, coaching and development conversations.
- Establish and monitor team KPIs, ensuring alignment with business goals and taking action where required.
- Encourage continuous learning, innovation and technical excellence.
- Support planning, workload management and delivery alongside project teams.
- Help define front-end standards, processes and best practices across the business.
- Work with senior leadership to develop the team's capability and culture.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced front-end developer who enjoys solving technical challenges while helping others succeed.
Essential experience
- Extensive experience with:
- HTML
- CSS
- Client-side JavaScript
- CMS platforms and theming
- Accessibility (WCAG)
- Front-end performance optimisation
- Front-end security
- API integrations
- Progressive enhancement
- Some experience with:
- Node.js
- TypeScript
- Continuous Integration (CI)
Desirable
- WordPress
- Craft CMS
- Astro.js
- Cloudflare
- Design Systems
- Test Driven Development using Jest or Vitest
You'll also bring:
- Previous experience mentoring or leading front-end developers.
- Strong code review and technical coaching skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working across multiple client projects in an agency or consultancy environment.
- A passion for writing clean, maintainable and scalable code.
- A collaborative approach with a desire to continuously improve both the team and the products you build.
