Senior Front-End Developer (Vue.js 3 + Europa Component Library)
Job Overview
This is a senior front-end engineering opportunity for an experienced developer who wants to contribute to international digital transformation projects. You’ll build modern, accessible, responsive, and user-focused web applications using Vue.js 3 and the Europa Component Library. The role combines hands-on development with architectural input, performance optimization, accessibility, and front-end best practices. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, backend engineers, product owners, and stakeholders across international teams. As a senior member of the development team, you’ll also contribute through code reviews, technical discussions, mentoring, and Agile delivery. The position is fully remote and offers exposure to diverse projects and opportunities for continued professional growth.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain modern, high-quality web applications using Vue.js 3.
- Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable user-interface components using the Europa Component Library (ECL).
- Translate functional and technical requirements into robust, intuitive, and performant front-end solutions.
- Work closely with UX/UI designers, backend developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive digital experiences.
- Ensure applications follow WCAG accessibility standards, responsive design principles, and cross-browser compatibility requirements.
- Optimize front-end applications for performance, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decisions affecting front-end solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, technical discussions, and collaborative development activities.
- Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and JSON-based backend services.
- Contribute to CI/CD workflows, development standards, testing practices, and continuous improvements to the front-end engineering process.
- Help establish and promote reusable patterns, clean coding practices, and high standards across development projects.

Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience in front-end web development.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Vue.js 3, including the Composition API and modern state-management patterns.
- Proven professional experience working with the Europa Component Library (ECL).
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript ES6+, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3/SCSS.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with JSON-based services.
- Strong understanding of responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, and modern front-end development principles.
- Solid knowledge of web accessibility standards, particularly WCAG 2.1.
- Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with projects for the European Commission or other EU institutions is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with Nuxt.js is desirable.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Vitest, Cypress, or Playwright is a plus.
- Knowledge of CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Docker and cloud-native environments is beneficial.
