About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Frontend Software Engineer to play a key role in the evolution of our Arc Design System, driving the development of scalable, accessible, and high-performance frontend platforms that power our digital products.
In this role, you will architect and build enterprise-grade reusable UI components, establish frontend best practices, and shape the technical direction of our Design System. Working closely with UX/UI Designers, Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering teams, you will transform design concepts into robust, production-ready solutions while ensuring consistency, accessibility, performance, and exceptional developer experience across multiple applications.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will provide technical leadership through architectural decision-making, mentoring, code reviews, and the establishment of engineering standards. You will champion modern frontend technologies, Design System governance, accessibility (WCAG), performance optimisation, and AI-enabled development practices to continuously improve our frontend platform. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced frontend engineer who is passionate about building scalable platforms, influencing engineering strategy, and delivering reusable solutions that enable product teams to develop high-quality user experiences efficiently and consistently.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Architecting scalable, resilient, and high-performance frontend platforms, developer tooling, and user experiences that support long-term business and engineering goals.
- Use problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs, make strategic architectural decisions, and drive technical direction across complex systems.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, conduct thoughtful code reviews, and foster a culture of collaboration, engineering excellence, and continuous learning.
- Exhibit strong sense of ownership and accountability, driving initiatives from technical design through implementation, deployment, and long-term maintenance while ensuring high standards of quality and reliability.
- Adapt emerging frontend technologies, AI-driven development, developer experience (DX), and modern engineering practices, with the ability to assess and introduce innovations that deliver measurable value.
- Build maintainable, reusable, accessible, secure, and thoroughly tested software, while establishing best practices, engineering standards, and scalable patterns across teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
