Senior Business Analyst Team Lead – Front Office & Risk

About the Role

Our Business Analysis function provides specialist expertise and insight across a broad portfolio of technology and business change programmes within a leading financial services organisation.

The Business Analysis team acts as a Centre of Excellence, helping to ensure consistent delivery, strong business alignment and high-quality outcomes across the organisation's change portfolio.

The function supports a diverse range of initiatives across areas including Cyber Risk, Risk, Finance, Front Office, Operations, Compliance, Data and other business-critical functions.

Business Analysts operate as trusted partners to the business and technology teams, providing subject matter expertise and acting as the bridge between business requirements and technology delivery.

The Business Analysis function is structured across several specialist areas, including:

  • Compliance, Legal & Operations
  • Cyber Risk
  • Front Office & Risk
  • Finance & Data

Main Purpose of the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst Team Lead to lead the Front Office & Risk Business Analysis team.

The role combines people leadership and strategic stakeholder management with hands-on senior Business Analysis responsibilities across complex Risk and Front Office change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

As the Front Office & Risk Business Analyst Team Lead, you will:

  • Lead stakeholder engagement across Risk and Front Office, supporting successful delivery across the Business Analysis change portfolio.
  • Act as a trusted representative and strategic partner to senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop and motivate a team of Business Analysts, including permanent employees and contractors, ensuring clear objectives, strong delivery focus and effective problem resolution.
  • Own team resourcing, recruitment, contractor management and resource governance, ensuring the right skills and capabilities are available to support the Risk portfolio.
  • Partner with Project Managers, business stakeholders and technology teams to provide subject matter expertise, solution guidance and delivery support.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and provide clear, concise information to support effective decision-making.
  • Take ownership of complex issues, risks, dependencies and resource challenges, proactively driving them through to resolution.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture and support the development of Business Analysis capability across the organisation.

Senior Business Analyst Responsibilities

Alongside the leadership responsibilities, you will operate as a senior Business Analyst across complex initiatives, including strategic Credit Risk programmes.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Business Analysis activities throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, solution design and stakeholder engagement.
  • Acting as a senior Credit Risk Business Analyst on strategic initiatives.
  • Producing high-quality business and functional requirements documentation.
  • Developing and presenting solution options and recommendations to business stakeholders.
  • Defining testing approaches, creating test plans and test cases, and supporting system, integration and user acceptance testing.
  • Supporting user evaluation, issue resolution and problem-solving activities.
  • Reporting project status, testing outcomes, risks and issues to stakeholders and relevant governance forums.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for an experienced Business Analysis leader with a strong background in Risk within financial services.

You will ideally have:

  • 8–12 years' experience within the Risk domain in financial services.
  • A strong track record of delivering complex change initiatives and taking ownership of strategic Risk programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience successfully delivering projects within a financial services environment.
  • The confidence and credibility to engage effectively with senior management and executive stakeholders.
  • Business Analysis experience gained within a leading financial institution or consultancy.
  • A thorough understanding of the project lifecycle, including the preparation of proposals, scope documentation, requirements and testing documentation.
  • Strong product knowledge across areas such as:
    • Bonds
    • Derivatives
    • Credit
    • Securities Financing
    • Foreign Exchange
    • Loans and Deposits
  • A strong understanding of how financial products are booked and managed from a Risk perspective.
  • Good knowledge of Credit Risk concepts, including credit limits, CSAs, exposure calculations such as PFE, and collateral processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Front Office booking systems and their interfaces with Risk platforms.
  • Experience working with Credit Risk platforms; experience with industry-standard analytics and risk platforms would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical capability, including SQL querying and the ability to undertake independent systems analysis.
  • Understanding of revaluation rate curve construction and trade pricing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish positive and collaborative relationships across Technology, Change and Business teams.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst leader to combine people leadership, senior stakeholder management and hands-on Risk Business Analysis within a complex financial services change environment.

You will be comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels, able to lead a team while also providing hands-on expertise across complex Credit Risk and Front Office initiatives.
