Senior Frontend Engineer – Next.js / React / AI

London / Hybrid

Are you already using AI to fundamentally change the way you build software, rather than simply using Copilot to autocomplete the occasional line of code?

We’re hiring several Senior Frontend Engineers to join our client's small, high-calibre engineering team that is building a brand-new digital platform.

This is an opportunity to work with Next.js, React, TypeScript, and modern AI-assisted engineering practices, with genuine ownership of what you build and the ability to ship your work directly into production.

The opportunity

You’ll work in a small engineering team where pairs of engineers take ownership of a complete vertical slice of the customer journey. That means you won't simply be handed frontend tickets. You'll own the application, its backend-for-frontend, automated tests, and releases – taking features from idea and design through to real customers.

The team operates with a high degree of autonomy and very little unnecessary ceremony. Changes are small, iterative, and continuously delivered, with engineers responsible for the quality of what they ship.

AI is genuinely part of the engineering workflow

This isn't a traditional development environment that has recently added an AI tool. The engineering model has been designed around agentic development from the outset.

You'll use Claude Code as a core part of your daily development workflow, working from structured designs to generate components, Storybook stories, and tests together.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The important part isn't simply generating code. As a Senior Engineer, you'll be expected to understand how to prompt effectively, critically review AI-generated output, identify problems, improve the code, and feed better standards back into the tooling.

You'll remain the engineer making the decisions – AI simply allows you to work differently and move faster.

What you'll be working with

The core stack includes:

  • React & Next.js – including App Router and React Server Components
  • TypeScript
  • Next.js route handlers / Backend-for-Frontend patterns
  • GraphQL & REST APIs
  • Playwright and unit testing
  • Storybook and shared design systems
  • Trunk-based development and continuous delivery
  • Claude Code / AI coding tools
  • Monorepo environments

Experience with Turborepo, CDN/caching strategies, ISR, stale-while-revalidate, micro-frontends, or edge composition would also be useful.

What we're looking for

You'll be a strong Senior Frontend Engineer who cares about engineering craft but doesn't need lots of process around you to produce great work. We're particularly interested in engineers who:

  • Have deep commercial experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript
  • Are comfortable owning features beyond just the UI
  • Treat automated testing as part of development rather than something handed over to QA
  • Enjoy shipping small changes frequently rather than working on long-lived branches
  • Have experience consuming and challenging design systems
  • Work well in small, collaborative engineering teams
  • Enjoy autonomy and taking responsibility for production software
  • Are comfortable having the quality and performance of what they ship measured against real-world usage
  • Most importantly, you should already be actively using AI coding tools as part of your development workflow. Ideally this will include Claude Code, although we're interested in engineers using similar agentic development approaches who can demonstrate how AI has genuinely changed the way they build software.

A different kind of engineering environment

This team is deliberately being kept small. You'll have the opportunity not only to build the platform but also to influence the engineering patterns, standards, and AI tooling used by the wider team.

The interview process reflects that approach. Rather than simply asking you to talk about AI development, there will be a practical session using Claude Code to solve a real engineering problem.

If you're a strong React/Next.js engineer who has embraced agentic development and wants to work somewhere that's building its engineering model around it, this should be a genuinely interesting project.
