Senior Front End Developer (CTV) - FTC - End of April

  • 15% growth in direct-to-consumer viewing
  • 23% increase in monthly active users
  • 18% growth in registrations

We're now looking for a Senior Front End Developer with strong Connected TV (CTV) experience to join our Digital team on a fixed-term contract and play a key role in delivering the next generation of features and functionality across our streaming platforms.

About the Role

As a senior member of our front-end engineering team, you'll become one of our CTV experts, helping to build and evolve applications across platforms including Amazon Fire TV, Samsung, LG, Freeview Play and more.

Working within an Agile squad, you'll collaborate closely with Product, Design and Development colleagues to create outstanding streaming experiences enjoyed by millions of viewers.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing new features and functionality across UKTV's Connected TV ecosystem
  • Building high-quality, scalable front-end applications using React and TypeScript
  • Maintaining and improving existing codebases
  • Working closely with platform partners to resolve technical challenges
  • Implementing accessibility best practices
  • Conducting code reviews and promoting engineering excellence
  • Contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and reviews
  • Championing quality, performance and maintainability across our CTV products
  • Sharing knowledge and mentoring developers within the team

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
  • Experience building consumer-facing digital products
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and services
  • State management experience
  • Experience working with Git and modern development workflows
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Experience with testing and quality assurance practices

Desirable

  • Experience with Preact
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
  • Understanding of video playback, DRM and encoding technologies
  • Knowledge of Next.js and/or React Native
  • Experience of sustainable development practices and reducing digital carbon impact
