Role Summary
Aubay UK is seeking a Senior Front End Engineer – React focused to join a long-term contract engagement supporting a large-scale data and analytics transformation programme within the energy sector. The role is focused on leading the migration of existing front-end applications into modern React-based solutions, establishing technical standards, mentoring developers, and delivering high-quality applications using React, Node.js, Azure and DevOps practices. The successful candidate will drive technical delivery across mission-critical data products and platforms that support trading, supply and operational business functions.

Location: London, Waterloo
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
Travel: No travel required
Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Expert-level React.js development experience
- Commercial Node.js development experience
- Azure cloud platform experience
- Azure DevOps and CI/CD delivery practices
- Full stack development expertise with strong front-end focus
- Technical architecture and solution design experience
- Test Driven Development (TDD) and quality engineering practices
- Experience leading front-end modernisation or migration initiatives
- Ability to mentor and guide developers and technical teams
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- AI mindset with an interest in leveraging emerging technologies

Role Responsibilities
- Lead the migration of existing front-end applications into modern React-based solutions
- Define front-end architecture, engineering standards and best practices
- Develop scalable applications using React.js, Node.js and Azure technologies
- Collaborate with product owners, technical leads and business stakeholders
- Mentor junior developers and support data engineers transitioning into React development
- Champion DevOps, automation and continuous integration practices
- Implement test-driven development and ensure high-quality software delivery
- Act as a subject matter expert across multiple application and data domains
- Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, maintainability and user experience
- Support delivery of robust, reusable and monitored data products aligned to business objectives
