Senior Frontend Engineer (React / JavaScript)
Burgess Hill, United Kingdom | Hybrid | ⏱️ Full-Time
About The Role
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, data-driven web applications that power innovative digital products. You will be a valued member of a high-performance distributed engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders, product managers, and fellow engineers to build scalable, performant UI solutions that meet real business and compliance needs.
This role offers a compelling blend of hands-on technical excellence and engineering leadership — ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives on both building great software and growing the talent around them.
In This Role, You Will
- Architect and develop scalable, high-quality frontend applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3 — applying React Hooks and functional component patterns to deliver fast, accessible, and responsive user experiences.
- Lead and implement state management strategies using Redux and/or Context API, and develop data-driven UI components and dynamic forms — including JSON-schema based forms — to satisfy complex business and compliance requirements.
- Champion quality by writing and maintaining automated tests using React Testing Library or equivalent frameworks, conducting code reviews, and driving adherence to engineering best practices and performance standards across the team.
- Integrate and connect frontend applications with RESTful APIs and web services, ensuring seamless, reliable data exchange using JSON and related technologies.
- Mentor and elevate junior and mid-level engineers, contributing to the growth and effectiveness of a distributed engineering team whilst actively participating in agile ceremonies — including sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
