£400-£600 / day
Company Description
Volter is a climate-tech platform backed by top-tier VCs, building a modern B2B energy solution described as "Octopus Energy for industry." Founded by experienced entrepreneurs who have scaled multi-billion dollar businesses, Volter provides radical transparency and data-driven renewable energy products to help commercial customers cut costs and carbon without legacy complexity.
Job Description
Join Volter's founding team as a Senior Full Stack Engineer on a six-month contract to build the infrastructure for clean energy. You will own features end-to-end—from backend services in Go/Python to frontend interfaces in React—while developing complex ETL pipelines for smart-meter data, accelerating the global transition to renewables through high-velocity engineering.
Location
London, UK
Why this role is remarkable
- Work directly with seasoned founders who have previously scaled businesses to multi-billion dollar valuations and are now tackling the climate crisis with top-tier VC backing.
- Join a high-velocity founding team where you will ship impactful product features in days rather than weeks, maintaining genuine end-to-end ownership of the platform.
- Solve complex technical challenges in the renewables space by building the first transparent, data-driven platform for B2B energy procurement, pricing, and forecasting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Collaborate closely with founders and data scientists to implement feature serving and real-time scoring, making pragmatic trade-offs to deliver value to customers quickly.
The ideal candidate
- Proven track record of shipping production software in early-stage startups, with a strong backend focus and proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, and React.
- Deep experience with data-intensive architectures, including schema design, query optimization, and handling complex time-series data or half-hourly utility data feeds.
