Job Description
Overview
At AtkinsRéalis Nuclear, we’re developing digital products that are helping transform how complex nuclear infrastructure is designed, constructed, operated, maintained and decommissioned.
We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help shape and develop a suite of extended reality (XR) products that connect field teams with project information, digital work packs, asset data, spatial models, evidence capture and remote expert support.
You’ll combine hands-on full stack engineering with technical leadership, working across modern web applications, cloud services, APIs, data integrations and mobile deployment. You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, subject-matter experts and client stakeholders to turn promising ideas and existing capabilities into secure, scalable and maintainable products that deliver real-world value.
As a senior member of the team, you’ll help shape technical direction and architecture while supporting others to develop their knowledge and confidence. You’ll have space to share your ideas, explore different approaches and contribute to engineering practices that enable our products and people to grow.
Your role
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you’ll bring your technical experience and engineering judgement to the development and evolution of our XR product suite, balancing hands-on development with technical leadership.
You’ll:
- Develop and evolve full stack products, building modern applications using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, cloud-native services and well-structured back-end APIs.
- Help shape our technical architecture, making thoughtful decisions that support scalable, secure and maintainable products across web, cloud, XR and engineering data workflows.
- Support mobile deployment, contributing to applications built for Android and iOS using Capacitor or similar technologies.
- Connect products, data and engineering workflows, developing integrations with document, model, asset and information sources, including FME or comparable data transformation and automation tools.
- Develop and support cloud solutions, building and maintaining Azure-hosted services, deployment pipelines and supporting infrastructure for product development and delivery.
- Collaborate across disciplines, working with product managers, designers and domain specialists to understand user needs and translate complex construction, engineering and nuclear requirements into practical digital solutions.
- Champion good engineering practices, contributing to technical decisions, code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD and secure development while sharing knowledge and supporting other engineers.
- Support products in real-world environments, contributing to demonstrations and pilot deployments, troubleshooting issues and continuously improving performance, reliability, usability and security.
- You’ll have the opportunity to influence how the product suite evolves while remaining close to the technology and contributing directly to delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you
We’re looking for someone with strong full stack engineering foundations who enjoys combining hands-on development with collaboration, technical leadership and problem-solving.
You don’t need to have worked with every technology or industry area we use. What matters is that you bring the depth of experience and engineering judgement needed to make considered technical decisions, support others and help guide products from development into reliable real-world use.
You may thrive in this role if you:
- Have strong experience developing modern full stack applications, with hands-on knowledge of React, JavaScript and TypeScript and experience designing or integrating back-end services and REST APIs.
- Have experience developing and operating solutions in Microsoft Azure, alongside modern practices such as Git-based source control, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Have experience with mobile application deployment, ideally using Capacitor for Android and/or iOS, or bring transferable experience with comparable technologies.
- Understand software architecture, application security and maintainable engineering practices, and are comfortable making and communicating thoughtful technical decisions.
- Have experience integrating different sources of data, documents, models or workflows. Experience with FME, CAD, BIM, GIS, asset information or common data environments would be particularly valuable.
- Enjoy working collaboratively across disciplines, translating complex user or business needs into practical technical solutions and explaining your thinking clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- We’d also welcome experience or an interest in XR, augmented or mixed reality, spatial computing, digital twins or real-time platforms such as Unity, NVIDIA Isaac Sim or Unreal Engine. These are valuable additions, but we don’t expect one person to bring experience in every area.
- Knowledge of containerisation, infrastructure as code, SaaS products or configurable enterprise platforms could also be useful, as could an interest in emerging technologies such as computer vision, AI, robotics, IoT and 3D visualisation.
- Experience within nuclear, construction, infrastructure or another regulated or safety-critical environment can be valuable, but we’re equally interested in relevant experience from other sectors and the different perspectives you could bring.
- Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is collaborative, thoughtful and curious, who enjoys sharing their knowledge and helping others develop, and who wants to build high-quality digital products that make a meaningful difference to how complex projects are delivered.
