We’re supporting a well-funded technology business building modern software for complex financial and operational workflows. The company is growing quickly and operates with a highly practical engineering culture where senior developers own problems, work closely with customers, and move from idea to production fast.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys building complete solutions rather than working on a narrow part of the stack. You’ll work directly with customers and internal stakeholders, translate operational problems into technical solutions, and own end-to-end delivery.
What you’ll be working on
- Build and ship customer-facing product features across backend and frontend.
- Work directly with customers to understand requirements and turn them into practical solutions.
- Design and develop services using Django, Django REST Framework and PostgreSQL.
- Build modern user-facing applications with React, TypeScript and Next.js.
- Develop reliable background and workflow-processing systems using Temporal, Celery or similar technologies.
- Work with live production data, database migrations, query optimisation and system performance.
- Make pragmatic decisions about when a lightweight script is enough and when a scalable system is required.
- Own solutions from initial problem definition through deployment and iteration.

What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong record of shipping production software.
- Strong hands-on experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
- Advanced PostgreSQL knowledge beyond standard ORM usage, including query optimisation and production migrations.
- Strong experience with React, TypeScript and Next.js.
- Experience with asynchronous processing or durable workflow orchestration such as Temporal, Celery or equivalent.
- Previous experience working directly with customers or business stakeholders and delivering software against real operational requirements.
- Comfortable taking ownership in an environment where priorities can evolve quickly.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical limitations and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in fintech, accounting software, ERP systems or financial operations would be an advantage.
- Understanding of concepts such as AP/AR, chart of accounts, double-entry accounting, financial close or revenue recognition.
- Background in forward-deployed engineering, customer engineering, special projects or similar highly autonomous roles.

This is best suited to someone who enjoys pace, ownership and ambiguity. The company is still building and refining processes, so this is not a role for someone looking for a heavily layered organisation or narrowly defined responsibilities.
You’ll have significant influence over both the technical solution and how the product evolves, with direct visibility of the impact of what you build.
