Senior Software Engineer | Remote | High Ownership | AI-Native Engineering
Remote (UK)
Some software engineering roles are about completing tickets. This one is about deciding what should be built in the first place.
We're partnering with an exceptionally profitable software company that's built a successful product with a remarkably small engineering team. They've grown sustainably, have an established customer base, and are now looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the next phase of the platform.
This isn't a role where you'll spend weeks waiting for decisions or implementing specifications written by someone else. You'll have the autonomy to identify problems, understand what customers need and turn those insights into well-engineered software.
They're looking for a product-minded software engineer who enjoys being close to the customer, takes ownership of the full development lifecycle and wants to work in an environment where outcomes matter more than hierarchy.
What you'll be doing
- You'll own features from identifying the problem through to designing, building and shipping the solution
- You'll work closely with product and customers to understand what is actually worth building
- You'll use Python or TypeScript to build high-quality, production software
- You'll make architectural and technical decisions that shape the future of the platform
- You'll balance customer needs, engineering quality and speed of delivery
- You'll use modern AI coding tools to increase your productivity without compromising engineering standards
- You'll improve engineering practices and help raise the technical bar across the team
- You'll take responsibility for the outcome of what you build rather than simply completing assigned tickets

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We're looking for someone who has
- Strong commercial experience building and shipping software products
- Excellent Python or TypeScript skills
- A strong product mindset and genuine interest in solving customer problems
- Experience owning projects or features from conception through to production
- Experience making technical decisions and balancing speed with quality
- The ability to work independently and make good decisions without layers of management
- A track record of taking ownership beyond the boundaries of a traditional engineering role
You might currently be a Senior Software Engineer, Tech Lead, Lead Engineer or Principal Engineer — or simply a strong senior engineer who naturally takes ownership and wants more influence over the product.
