Senior Fundraising and Volunteer Executive

We are looking for a Senior Fundraising and Volunteer Executive to join our fundraising team. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The right candidate will work across local community and individual giving income streams to raise income, support and awareness of the work of St. John’s, while managing all aspects of the volunteer programme. The role will also support all legacy fundraising.

About the Role

St John & St Elizabeth Hospital is a leading private hospital in London, offering a comprehensive range of specialist medical treatments, clinics and diagnostic services from a team of world-class consultants, supported by a dedicated team of clinical and non-clinical staff.

We are known for our exceptional standards of care, excellent nursing standards, and cutting-edge medical treatments.

We have 170 years of history and are looking for people to join us for the next chapter. We are very unique as the only truly charitable private hospital in London and as a charity, every private patient treated helps support our on-site community hospice.

Responsibilities

  • Community Fundraising Strategy: Work closely with the Head of Fundraising to devise and deliver an effective community fundraising strategy that aligns with agreed targets. This includes supporting fundraising campaigns like Light Up a Life, collection tins, and mass participation challenge events.
  • Campaign Support: Provide logistical and strategic support for hospice-led campaigns, ensuring smooth execution, effective engagement with the community, and maximization of fundraising efforts.
  • Engagement with Schools, Faith, and Community Groups: Collaborate with the Head of Fundraising to develop strategies and fundraising products that encourage schools, faith groups, and community organisations to support the hospice, raising funds while enhancing awareness of the hospice’s services.
  • In Memory Fundraising Support: Assist with the development and promotion of the In Memory giving programme, helping families and individuals honour loved ones through donations, tribute funds, and memorial events.
  • Individual Giving Fundraising: Support the Individual Giving programme by assisting with donor communications, stewardship, and the development of materials to encourage regular giving, one-off donations, and sponsorship.
  • Legacy Fundraising: Contribute to the growth of the hospice’s Legacy Fundraising programme by promoting the importance of leaving a gift in wills, supporting the management of legacy enquiries, and assisting with related communications.
  • Donor Stewardship: Ensure that all donors are thanked promptly and appropriately, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring that supporters feel valued for their contributions.
  • General Fundraising Support: Provide additional support to the wider Fundraising team, including assisting with charity shop activities, mass mail-outs, and any other fundraising related tasks as required.
  • Weekend and Evening Work: Flexibility to work on some weekends and evenings to support key fundraising activities, events, and campaigns.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
