Job Description
This opening is for a fixed-term contract starting at 6 months, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role.
Must be based in the UK.
Option for Fully Remote or in Studio [Dundee].

You’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest game engine technologies, ensuring the games and designs we deliver are of the highest quality. You’ll have the capability to influence design choices on big brand games and original IP. You’ll be responsible for delivering expert design across all areas of our games.

Experience
Essential
- 5+ years game design experience and expertise having worked on multiple projects across all stages of game development from concept to implementation, to user testing and beyond.
- Extensive knowledge of games industry working practices and an overall passion for gaming.
- Ability to drive high quality feature and content execution by reviewing and supervising development.
- Excellent at generating ideas, pitching designs with an ability to deliver outcomes through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
- Experience in designing, prototyping and developing levels in-engine.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Unity engine.
- Excellent communication and ability to work to deadlines within a team environment.
- Excellent documentation skills including mock-ups, flow charts, prototyping or similar.
- Familiar with project planning suite - JIRA etc.
Desirable
- Experience designing and building great games that players love.
- An enthusiasm for level design and hands-on engine work.
- Ability to work well as a key vision holder across multiple projects.
- Traditional pipeline of learning through a University Environment.
Skills and Abilities
- A willingness to take on all aspects of game design, from being individually focused on high-concept tasks to tweaking and balancing levels or game data in engine.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to manage stakeholder and partner relationships and communicate effectively with team members at all levels.
- Excellent teamworking skills, receptive to feedback, ability to guide and mentor junior team members, collaborating with others to create the finished game.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to generate innovative concepts, ideas and gameplay mechanics.
- Organisation and project management skills, including familiarity with Agile development.
- Extensive knowledge of game systems and content across various genres and platforms.
Duties and Tasks
- Collaborating with the design team to create fun, innovative games with rich features and systems that immerse players and leave a positive lasting impression.
- Daily communication with our external working partners tracking the health of the project and future feature designs.
- Writing clear and informative game design documents with the relevant information needed to develop new game features and systems.
- Work with the design team to realise a project’s creative vision.
- Implement content in-engine, such as levels to game design specifications.
- Research, analyse and improve upon features and content, keeping up with trends and user preferences.
- Coming up with ideas that tackle problems in simple, elegant ways and always put the player experience first.
