THE ROLE

The Senior Garment Technologist is responsible for supporting the technical function, ensuring the technical integrity, fit, and quality of garments across all categories, maintaining the brand's aesthetic, and driving continuous improvement in garment production processes.

This role involves strategic planning, complex problem-solving, and managing a team of technologists, collaboration with design, development, and production teams, as well as managing risk, promoting safe operating standards, and driving innovation in garment technology.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Based at our Shoreditch head office this role will oversee the outerwear category for both genders. This role reports to the Head of Technical.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Managing the fit and sealing process and owning responsibility for the execution of the final fit of all AllSaints products in your categories as agreed with product teams.
  • Technical Strategy & Vision: Fit and construction excellence for the products in your categories. Supporting the development of consistent fit blocks and size specifications for your product categories, ensuring optimal fit, quality, comfort, and wearability that reflects the brand's aesthetic and thereby reduce return rates due to fit and quality to achieve company KPI.
  • Provide and present data reports to monitor and improve team and vendor performance, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Hold weekly team meetings to ensure critical path deadlines are on track and business objectives are met, and to facilitate problem-solving and process optimization.
  • Manage the Production Sealing Tracker and ensure sealing deadline targets are met in line with the company’s critical path, while also identifying and addressing any bottlenecks or delays.
  • Support the Product teams to ensure the AllSaints aesthetic is achieved, and to provide technical guidance and expertise to these teams.
  • Organise and manage fit meetings for your categories and resolve challenging fit issues.
  • Ensure that tech packs are updated with fit comments, specifications, and vendors are informed in line with the critical path requirement dates.
  • Manage risk assessment of product in close collaboration with the product teams and vendors, and to develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize potential issues.
  • Ensure digital technology is embraced (3D fittings, VC fit meetings, AI) and to evaluate and implement new digital technologies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the garment development process, in order to improve ROI.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor more junior members of the team, fostering a culture of excellence, precision, and continuous improvement. This includes setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback, and supporting professional development.
  • Ensure all your products meet relevant safety, legal, and ethical compliance standards in target markets.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Proven extensive experience as a Garment Technologist, with a strong track record of success in a leadership role.
  • Expert understanding of garment construction, fit, and manufacturing processes, with a deep knowledge of advanced techniques and industry best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of pattern cutting, grading, and specifications, with the ability to create and modify complex patterns.
  • Proficiency in technical drawing and with the ability to create accurate and detailed tech packs if required, with experience in using CAD software and other relevant technologies.
  • Extensive experience in managing garment fittings and communicating fit comments effectively, with the ability to lead fit sessions for a variety of garment types and body shapes.
  • In-depth knowledge of fabric properties, performance, and testing, with the ability to evaluate and select appropriate fabrics for different garment applications.
  • Ability to assess and manage product quality and identify potential issues, and to develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving garment quality and production efficiency, with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and ethical sourcing practices, and a commitment to ensuring compliance throughout the supply chain.
  • Extensive experience with digital technology in garment development (e.g., 3D fitting software), and a passion for staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the field.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with excellent organizational and time-management skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor, train, and develop junior team members, and to build a high-performing technical team.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic AllSaints environment.
