Role Description
Role: Senior GCP DevSecOps Engineer
Sheffield, UK
6 Months contract
Rate: 55 GBP per hour Inside IR35
Responsibilities
- Experience: 5 to 7
- Build, deploy, and manage GCP foundation platform components using GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Build, Cloud Run, and cloud-native services
- Engineer repeatable cloud platform capabilities using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approaches
- Implement preventive security controls and security guardrails to improve cloud security posture
- Integrate and manage cloud services including IAM, networking, logging, monitoring, operating systems, and container platforms
- Build and maintain CI/CD and continuous testing capabilities
- Embed security controls into software delivery pipelines and platform engineering processes
- Ensure compliance with Cloud Security Standards and governance requirements
- Support audit readiness, control mapping, documentation, and compliance reporting
- Operate within controlled change management processes and deployment standards
- Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and support procedures
- Support platform reliability, resilience, observability, and operational excellence initiatives
- Collaborate with platform security and application teams as a trusted technical advisor

To Be Successful In This Role You Should Have

- Hands-on experience building and operating services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Build, and Cloud Run
- Strong knowledge of Cloud Security and GCP security best practices
- Expertise in IAM, network security, workload security, and cloud monitoring
- Strong understanding of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Config Connector
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of GitOps practices and tools such as FluxCD
- Experience with Helm and container-based deployment platforms
- Strong programming and scripting skills using Python, Go, or Bash
- Experience with security compliance, audit controls, monitoring, and configuration management
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD platforms
- Experience implementing security guardrails and preventive controls at scale
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience with Kubernetes security and container security is desirable
