Senior Platform Engineer
We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our team in Leeds on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role, with two days in the office and three days working remotely each week.
This role sits within the central Cloud Platform team, supporting a portfolio of applications built on Google Cloud and open-source technologies. You’ll play a key part in designing and delivering GCP solutions, while championing best practice across security, automation, and observability. It’s a hands-on role where you can make an immediate impact from day one.
We’re currently building a strong talent pipeline for this position, so while this isn’t an immediate vacancy, we’re keen to connect with senior engineers for future opportunities as the team continues to grow.
We’re looking for engineers with a product mindset when it comes to infrastructure. This isn’t about sitting in a ticket queue — it’s about treating the platform as a product. You’ll focus on reducing manual effort, building self-service “golden paths,” and enabling product teams to ship safely, quickly, and with confidence.
What will you be doing?
- Design and maintain scalable, automated platform capabilities including IaC modules and standardised GitOps pipelines to significantly accelerate developer delivery.
- Contribute to the architecture, scalability, and ongoing lifecycle management of a growing enterprise GCP estate, ensuring resilience and performance at scale.
- Build and evolve centralised observability solutions (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Operations Suite) to maximise uptime and reduce mean time to resolution.
- Partner closely with security teams to embed “shift-left” practices, integrating IAM, network controls, and governance seamlessly into engineering workflows.
- Support and mentor engineers across the team, contributing to code reviews, clear documentation, and fostering a high-trust, collaborative engineering environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
