About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior General Foreman (Electrical) to join our growing team, supporting the construction and commissioning phases of a major infrastructure programme. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of electrical construction works, ensuring activities are planned, coordinated, and executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards within a highly regulated environment.
As part of the Site Delivery Team, you will provide frontline leadership across electrical construction activities, coordinating site teams and subcontractors while working closely with project management, engineering, and commissioning functions. You will play a key role in driving safety, programme performance, quality, and productivity while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, project specifications, and industry standards.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex and technically challenging projects while supporting the development of site teams and driving continuous improvement across the project.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise electrical construction and installation activities across allocated work areas.
- Coordinate site teams, electricians, technicians, chargehands, and subcontractors to achieve programme objectives.
- Plan and organise daily site operations, ensuring labour, materials, plant, equipment, and permits are available.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Support the preparation, review, and delivery of construction work packs.
- Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks, and safety communications.
- Ensure compliance with BS7671 Wiring Regulations, site electrical safety rules, and project specifications.
- Supervise cable containment, cable installation, glanding, termination, testing, and associated electrical works.
- Support testing, commissioning, system integration, and handover activities.
- Monitor site progress, productivity, quality, and resource utilisation.
- Review electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to support effective delivery.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, inspections, and diaries.
- Attend and contribute to coordination meetings with project, engineering, commissioning, and client teams.
- Manage electrical materials, plant, tools, and equipment effectively.
- Identify and escalate technical issues, risks, programme impacts, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure quality inspections, test records, and handover documentation are completed and maintained.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture, challenging unsafe behaviours and encouraging best practice.
- Mentor and support the development of supervisors, electricians, apprentices, and trainees.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance and delivery.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Experience supervising electrical construction and installation activities on major construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience leading and coordinating site-based teams and subcontractors.
- Experience managing safety, quality, and programme performance on site.
- Experience reviewing and implementing RAMS and construction work packs.
- Experience coordinating multiple work fronts and managing competing priorities.
- Experience supporting testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Strong knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
- Strong understanding of electrical construction and installation methodologies.
- Knowledge of cable containment systems, cable installation, glanding, and termination.
- Understanding of electrical testing and commissioning processes.
- Knowledge of earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Understanding of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of quality assurance and inspection processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction reporting systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to maintaining exacting standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality performance.
Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Experience working within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience delivering multidisciplinary infrastructure or industrial projects.
- Experience managing interfaces between electrical, mechanical, civil, and commissioning activities.
- Experience supporting project commissioning and operational handover.
- Experience mentoring apprentices, trainees, and junior supervisors.
- Understanding of NEC contract environments.
- Experience using digital construction, planning, and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of temporary power systems and HV/LV electrical distribution.
- Membership of a relevant professional or industry body.
- Professional registration or willingness to work towards accreditation.
