Role Overview
As a Senior General Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the performance and development of a cluster of clubs. Alongside managing your home club, you will work closely with General Managers and Assistant General Managers across your region to drive operational excellence, support colleague development, and contribute to achieving membership and commercial objectives. Through effective leadership, coaching, and collaboration, you will help create positive environments for colleagues and members, maintain high standards across all clubs, and support the delivery of exceptional member experiences. Regular travel within your cluster will be required to provide operational support, guidance, and development to club leadership teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the performance and operational delivery of your home club, ensuring high standards across people, product, process, property, and profitability.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to General Managers and Assistant General Managers to help them achieve operational and commercial objectives.
- Support the delivery of business initiatives and operational priorities across your cluster.
- Recruit, develop, and support General Managers and Assistant General Managers, helping to build strong leadership capability and succession pipelines.
- Deliver training and development initiatives to club leadership teams when required.
- Conduct quarterly brand standards audits and support clubs in implementing improvement plans.
- Monitor and review group exercise performance, identifying opportunities to enhance member engagement and commercial performance.
- Support quality standards across social media activity and club communications.
- Review and support the delivery of local marketing activity and promotional materials.
- Support the Regional Business Manager with business projects, reporting requirements, and operational initiatives.
- Review club performance across people, product, process, property, and profitability, identifying opportunities to improve operational effectiveness.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for colleagues and members across all clubs.
- Represent JD Gyms values and standards in all interactions with colleagues, members, and stakeholders.

- Support membership growth and retention across your cluster.
- Support colleague engagement, retention, and development.
- Improve and maintain group exercise performance.
- Support Personal Trainer retention, development, and business growth.
- Maintain strong brand standards and audit performance across all clubs.
- Ensure facilities are safe, compliant, and well maintained.
- Support effective utilities management and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to achieving membership, revenue, and commercial objectives.
- Maintain appropriate resourcing levels and succession planning across clubs.
- Support profitable group exercise delivery.
- Ensure clubs achieve agreed audit and compliance standards.
- Monitor and reduce maintenance backlog through effective planning and follow-up.
- Support initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce waste across the business.

Skills and Experience
- Experience leading multi-site operations, club management, or operational teams within a leisure, fitness, hospitality, or customer-focused environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience coaching, developing, and supporting leaders and colleagues.
- Experience supporting membership growth, commercial performance, and business objectives.
- Strong understanding of operational standards, compliance requirements, and member experience delivery.
- Experience developing group exercise programmes, personal trainer performance, and commercial opportunities.
- Ability to analyse performance data and use insights to support informed decision-making.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple clubs.
- Experience supporting recruitment, succession planning, and colleague development.
