Senior General Operative Opportunity
Great opportunity to work as a Senior General Operative for one of the UK's largest citrus & grape specialists.
Staffline is recruiting Senior General Operatives to work in Alconbury.
The rates of pay are:
Training Period:
- Day Shift: £12.71 per hour
Post-Training:
- Day Shift: £13.01 per hour
Overtime (Subject to qualifying hours) is paid at:
- Day Shift: £16.26 per hour
Shift Patterns
- Day shift: 6:30am - 7:30pm, 4on-4off
You will be expected to follow your assigned shift pattern. While your shifts are guaranteed, a degree of flexibility will be required in relation to overtime to meet the needs of the business.
Transport is provided from 4 different locations in Peterborough.
Your Time at Work
As a Senior General Operative, you'll be based in the production area and play a key role in supporting daily operations. Working closely with Line Leaders and Shift Managers.
Your responsibilities will include:
Operational Duties
- Regularly working on the production line
- Signing workers in and out
- Assisting with assigning workers to lines and ensuring timely start of shifts
- Conducting headcounts and maintaining accurate records

Compliance & Standards
- Monitoring GMP procedures, including hygiene protocols (e.g. handwashing)
- Ensuring proper use of PPE across all workers
- Overseeing locker and canteen area compliance with PPE policies
- Supervising the smoking area to ensure health and safety rules are followed
Team Support
- Supporting Line Leaders with day-to-day tasks
- Helping new starters integrate into the team
- Promoting a safe, clean, and efficient work environment
Flexibility and attention to detail are essential in this role, as you'll help maintain high standards across the production area.
Our Perfect Worker
Our ideal Senior General Operative will be a confident communicator who leads by example and is willing to work hands-on alongside the team on the production line.
As a senior member of the team, you'll be expected to set high standards for yourself and others. You should be comfortable handling a variety of tasks, from supervising workers to ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
You must be adaptable and able to respond quickly to changing needs throughout the shift. While previous experience in a factory or warehouse environment is beneficial, it's not essential, as full training will be provided.
