Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer | Huddersfield | Full Time Salary: £35,000 - £50,000, depending on experience
Job Overview
The Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer is a seasoned expert in geo-environmental engineering, responsible for leading and managing environmental assessments and remediation projects. They provide technical guidance, project management, and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring that projects adhere to environmental regulations and best practices.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Take a leadership role in planning, executing, and overseeing complex geo-environmental projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Technical Expertise: Provide expert technical guidance on geo-environmental issues, including soil and groundwater assessment, remediation strategies, and geotechnical considerations.
- Team Management: Mentor and supervise junior engineers, offering guidance on technical matters, project management, and career development.
- Environmental Assessments: Conduct thorough site assessments, environmental impact assessments, and risk assessments for a wide range of projects, identifying potential environmental hazards and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on evolving environmental regulations and ensure project designs and activities comply with all relevant laws and standards.
- Remediation Planning: Develop comprehensive remediation plans for contaminated sites, including the selection of appropriate technologies and methods for cleanup.
- Geotechnical Analysis: Perform advanced geotechnical investigations, analysing soil properties and their impact on project design and stability, and recommending solutions.
- Report and Proposal Writing: Prepare detailed reports, proposals, and documentation of findings, assessments, and recommendations for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and managing client expectations.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and accuracy of deliverables, data analysis, and project documentation.

Qualifications and Preferred Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Profound knowledge of environmental regulations, geotechnical engineering.
- Advanced proficiency in geotechnical and environmental software and tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Leadership and team management experience.
Additional Notes
The main responsibilities of the role may be around 30-40% site based carrying out site investigation works. The primary tasks will include all of the above plus geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental report writing competently; reviewing, checking and correcting reports by junior members of staff; liaising with clients about project / site specific details; project management, scheduling testing, learning the necessary skills to progress in career. Assisting with day to day general office tasks.
