TGS Site Characterization
TGS Site Characterization is seeking a highly motivated Senior Geoscientist to support the delivery of Offshore Wind, Site Survey, and Carbon Storage projects. Acting as the designated Geoscience Manager on assigned projects, the role ensures that geoscience activities are delivered efficiently, consistently, and to the required technical and quality standard.
The Senior Geoscientist combines strong technical capability with practical project leadership, coordinating multi-sensor, multi-disciplinary activities and serving as the key technical contact for clients and project teams. The role will also contribute towards the technical development of the department through the continuous improvement of standards and best practices.
About The Role

Purpose and Scope
- Act as the designated Geoscience Manager for assigned Site Characterization projects.
- Deliver the geoscience scope in accordance with agreed quality, schedule, budget, and client requirements.
- Coordinate geoscientists, specialists, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
- Manage project risks, assumptions, interfaces, dependencies, and technical decisions within the geoscience workstream.
- Provide technical management and mentoring of junior geoscientist colleagues.
- Manage interfaces with other TGS departments throughout project execution.
- Support bids, client engagement, and continuous improvement of department standards and processes.

Key Responsibilities
Project Geoscience Management
- Own the geoscience workstream from conception through delivery and closeout in accordance with the TGS project framework.
- Maintain the geoscience delivery plan, including schedules, activities, resources, quality review points, and deliverable dates.
- Coordinate priorities and task allocation for the project geoscience team, monitoring progress and addressing delivery constraints.
- Manage geoscience scope, assumptions, technical queries, risks, changes, and decisions, ensuring records remain current and trackable.
- Provide accurate reporting on progress and forecasts to the Project Owner.
- Provide technical management and mentoring of junior geoscientist colleagues.
- Manage interfaces and dependencies with Acquisition, Imaging, Geotechnical, and other TGS departments to support efficient project delivery.
- Ensure subcontractor and cross-disciplinary inputs are received, reviewed, and integrated at the appropriate stage.
Data Interpretation and Integrated Assessment
- Create and manage ground model projects using industry-standard software and robust data management practices.
- Perform and supervise seismo-stratigraphic and geohazards interpretation, including point diffractor interpretation and shallow-gas assessment.
- Integrate geological, geophysical, and geotechnical data into coherent UHR3D ground models and project interpretations.
- Undertake interpretation using relevant PSTM, PSDM, velocity 3D volumes.
- Work closely with Imaging and the Integrated Sensor Specialist to detect and resolve data-quality issues and maintain consistency across outputs.
- Apply agreed methodologies, project specifications, industry guidance, and best practice throughout interpretation.

Reporting, Deliverables, and Client Interface
- Lead preparation of integrated UHR3D interpretation reports and geoscience deliverables, combining subsurface ground model assessment with integrated sensors interpretation.
- Ensure deliverables are complete, internally consistent, and quality-checked, technically defensible, and issued in line with the approved programme.
- Lead geoscience progress calls and technical discussions with clients, clearly explaining methods, findings, uncertainties, risks, and proposed actions.
- Coordinate responses to review comments and ensure agreed actions are closed or formally resolved.
- Support the Project Owner with scope clarification, geoscience activities, and deliverables schedule, change management, and communication of delivery impacts.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
- Apply the TGS Quality Management System and project-specific quality plan to geoscience activities and deliverables.
- Plan and coordinate checking, review, and approval activities, ensuring suitable and timely closeout of comments.
- Lead the geoscience contribution to project closeout, capturing lessons learned and recommending continuous improvement actions.
Bids and Technical Development
- Contribute technical content, delivery assumptions, resource estimates, and schedule inputs to proposals and bids.
- Support client workshops, presentations, and technical marketing.
- Aid the development of the Site Characterization Geoscience functional area through supporting continuous improvement of standards, best practices, and technical strategy priorities.
