Senior Geospatial Analyst

You will play a key role in shaping how HMRC Valuation Office uses geospatial data, technology and insight to support its services. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of geospatial initiatives, applying geospatial analysis, visualisation and data capabilities to solve complex business challenges and help the organisation make greater use of emerging data sources and technologies.
Responsibilities
Key day to day responsibilities of the role will include using their skills in visualising, and customising geospatial data and geospatial software towards the following activities:
- Design and Develop software solutions and process chains for GeoAnalytics activities
- Design and Develop solutions and process chains for automated ingestion of the varieties of third-party geospatial data ensuring data remains current and continues to deliver business value
- Support business engagement in ongoing geospatial programmes, including reviewing development activities and designing and developing prototypes for the enterprise GIS
- Work with colleagues across the organisation to support the development of management information dashboards and other analytical approaches that support property valuation activities
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across HMRC Valuation Office and external organisations to understand their data and analysis requirements and develop bespoke solutions to address their needs
- Support data quality assessment and review geospatial analysis produced by the team and external suppliers
- Mentoring and coaching colleagues sharing geospatial knowledge and supporting capability development across the team
- Keep up to date with new technology and methodologies identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working
- Undertake line management responsibilities for a Geospatial Analyst where assigned
- Travel to a variety of government locations, including other offices across the Valuation Office network when required

Qualifications
You will be an experienced geospatial professional who can apply geospatial data, analysis and visualisation techniques to deliver effective business solutions. You will be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, able to communicate technical information clearly and build effective working relationships across teams.

- Advanced knowledge and experience of geospatial- analysis, statistics and visualisation techniques
- Experience of using and customising open or proprietary GIS to manipulate geospatial data in various format using built-in functions and software programming and contribute to the continued development of the geospatial ecosystem
- Experience of evaluating the quality of geospatial data
- Experience of designing and developing end-to-end local and enterprise solutions on geospatial data production, transformation and distribution that meet business requirements
- Experience of communicating and influencing effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, producing clear technical documentation and translating complex geospatial information into solutions that meet business needs
- Experience of working collaboratively across multiple teams or disciplines to deliver shared objectives, balancing competing priorities and contributing to positive outcomes
- Experience of delivering high-quality outputs within challenging timescales, effectively managing competing demands and adapting to changing business priorities
