Bennett and Game are currently working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy that is looking to strengthen its growing geotechnical team with an experienced Geotechnical Engineer.
The company works across a wide range of private and public sector projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education, and healthcare developments. With offices across Birmingham, Brighton, Leicester, and Nottingham, they operate nationally and have built a strong reputation for providing high-quality engineering and environmental consultancy services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years' experience to join a growing team and work on a varied portfolio of development projects. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from initial desk studies and ground investigations through to geotechnical analysis, design, and reporting.
The role can be based from the company's Birmingham, Nottingham, or Leicester office, with flexible working available.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Position Overview
- Managing geotechnical projects across residential, commercial, and public sector developments
- Undertaking desk studies, ground investigations, and geotechnical assessments
- Producing geotechnical and factual/interpretative reports
- Carrying out geotechnical design and analysis
- Designing shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slopes, ground improvement schemes, and earthworks
- Undertaking site visits, inspections, and supervision of ground investigation works
- Producing technical reports, drawings, models, and calculations
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, Planning, Highways, Drainage Authorities, and NHBC
- Supporting Senior Engineers and Associate Directors with project delivery and business operations
- Providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, graduates, and apprentices
- Contributing to the development of departmental standards, systems, and procedures
- Maintaining strong client relationships and supporting business development
- Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practice
- Travelling to sites across the UK when required

Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Position Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant geotechnical experience
- Experience in geotechnical site investigation, analysis, and technical reporting
- Strong understanding of geotechnical and soil properties
- Experience with bearing pressure and settlement calculations
- Knowledge of slope stability and retaining wall design
- Experience with exploratory hole logging and sampling
- Good understanding of ground investigation equipment and procedures
- Familiarity with NHBC Standards, current legislation, and relevant industry guidance
- Contamination and remediation experience would be beneficial
- Professional membership of the Geological Society, ICE, or similar, or working towards membership
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
