Senior Geotechnical Engineer
We are looking for senior geotechnical engineers who are passionate about sustainability, and keen to work in a collaborative environment. You will be responsible for the delivery of geotechnical services for a wide range of projects — focusing on residential and commercial sectors — often in collaboration with other disciplines at Whitby Wood.

Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years’ experience in geotechnical design.
- Education: Degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Status: Chartered status, or at application stage.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiasm for ground engineering and professional growth.
- Experience in geotechnical design of foundations, basements, retaining structures, and slope stability.
- Experience liaising and obtaining approvals from third-party owners such as London Underground, Transport for London, Network Rail, and others.
- Experience with Ground Movement Assessment and Impact Assessment of buildings, utilities, and infrastructure assets.
- Manage and interpret ground investigations; prepare and review technical reports.
- Proven experience with geotechnical software, such as PLAXIS, Oasys Site, GeoStudio.
- Leadership:
- Ability to mentor and guide junior Engineers; support technical and professional growth.
- Ability to manage small geotechnical packages, including programme, budget, and coordination of deliverables.

You will need to be a dab hand with a pencil, able to command the respect of colleagues and clients, and experienced in successfully leading teams across a number of projects. This capability should be matched by excellent interpersonal skills, and a readiness to represent us at meetings with clients and project teams.
