We’re looking for Senior Geotechnical Engineers
We’re looking for Senior Geotechnical Engineers to join the UK’s largest and most diverse geotechnical and ground engineering contractor.
What you'll be doing:
- Taking the lead on high profile projects and frameworks.
- Managing and supervising geotechnical/geoenvironmental investigations including soil and rock logging, soil and groundwater sampling and in-situ testing ensuring timely and quality delivery.
- Taking a proactive approach in the responsibility for the Health and Safety of the project ensuring all required documentation in place.
- Ensuring full communication across all management levels within the project.
- Attending regular meetings with the client to discuss and appraise the performance of contract.
- Providing the technical input into tendering and delivery of projects.
- Managing medium and small projects to ensure project KPIs and deliverables are met.
- Mentoring and targeting/facilitating the upskilling of engineers in the team.
- Delivery of geotechnical projects and reports with working knowledge of UK design codes (including EC7 Part 1, and UK annexes), standards and specifications.
- Making geotechnical recommendations including, earthworks, retaining structures, slopes and outline design of foundations.
- Using of geotechnical software, such as OpenGround/Holebase to produce deliverables.
- Holding a basic understanding of UK legislation relating to ground contamination and developing awareness of how risks and liabilities will impact upon land ownership, planning and development would be an advantage.
- Planning, managing, supervising and interpreting ground investigations and laboratory test results.
- Conducting oneself in a way that reflects and promotes the Van Elle company values.
- Any other tasks that you may reasonably be required to undertake.

Who we're looking for:
- Previous experience in managing large, medium and small ground investigation projects.
- Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities.
- Experience in using Ground Investigation Data Management software such as OpenGround/Holebase/GINT. Experience in the use of other software would be advantageous including settlement analysis and slope stability.
- Knowledge of good practice in a variety of areas including earthworks, environmental assessment, remediation, coal workings, geotechnical aspects such as slope stability, foundation recommendations.
- Knowledge of the role of investigation supervisor or contractors responsible engineer.
- Working towards chartered status relevant to geotechnical engineering and/or environmental science.
- Competent in all Microsoft applications, especially office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Experience of working with GIS for GI management purposes is desirable.
- Experience of effectively managing own priorities and meeting deadlines, in a fast-pace environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Other Requirements:
- Eligible to work and live in the UK.
- Flexibility to travel across the UK.
- A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK
- Valid CSCS
What you’ll get in return:
- Competitive salary depending on experience.
- Hours of work are 8.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday however flexibility is required
