Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer
Exeter
Salary: GBP50,000 : GBP65,000
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Exeter. This role offers the chance to work on a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects across the residential, commercial, infrastructure and development sectors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality geotechnical design solutions, supporting projects from ground investigation through to detailed design and construction. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, providing technical input, mentoring junior engineers and helping to develop the wider geotechnical capability of the team.
The Role Will Involve
- Managing and delivering geotechnical design projects from feasibility through to detailed design
- Producing high-quality geotechnical interpretative reports, design reports and technical documentation
- Undertaking geotechnical assessments including slope stability, foundation design, retaining structures and earthworks
- Preparing calculations and designs using industry-standard software
- Reviewing ground investigation data and developing appropriate geotechnical models
- Providing technical support to project teams and clients
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, helping to develop their technical skills
- Liaising with clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related subject
- Significant experience within a geotechnical consultancy environment
- Strong experience in geotechnical design and interpretation of ground investigation data
- Experience with geotechnical software packages such as GEO5, WALLAP, SLOPE/W or similar
- A good understanding of Eurocodes and current geotechnical design standards
- Experience managing projects and supporting the development of junior team members
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
