About the Role
To lead and develop relationships with multinational clients, providing strategic advice and effective management of their global employee benefits programmes.
The Senior Global Benefits Management Consultant
The Senior Global Benefits Management Consultant will act as a trusted adviser to clients, combining strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness and an understanding of each client’s wider people and business priorities. The role will take ownership of complex multinational client relationships, working across Howden’s international network to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery while identifying opportunities to enhance and expand the client relationship.
As a senior member of the GBM team, the role will also support the development of colleagues, contribute to new business activity and play an active part in the continued development of Howden’s Global Benefits Management proposition.
Key Accountabilities
- Client leadership: Take primary responsibility for a portfolio of multinational clients, building trusted relationships with senior HR, Reward and Benefits stakeholders and maintaining a strong understanding of their business, priorities and evolving needs.
- Strategic consulting: Provide proactive advice on multinational employee benefits strategy, governance and programme development, helping clients move beyond day-to-day coordination towards effective global oversight and decision-making.
- Global programme management: Lead the effective delivery of global benefits programmes across multiple countries, coordinating Howden colleagues, local brokers and other partners to provide a consistent and high-quality client experience.
- Insight and recommendations: Use client data, market intelligence and knowledge of global benefits trends to identify issues and opportunities and translate these into clear, practical recommendations.
- Stakeholder management: Navigate complex multinational stakeholder environments, bringing together global and local client teams and Howden colleagues to achieve agreed objectives and resolve issues effectively.
- Commercial management: Understand the commercial performance of assigned client relationships, support retention and renewal activity and proactively identify opportunities to broaden Howden’s relationship with clients.
- New business: Contribute to prospective client activity, including pitches, RFP responses, presentations and the development of solutions for multinational organisations.
- Leadership and development: Provide guidance, coaching and technical support to Consultants and other colleagues, helping develop capability and ensuring high standards of client delivery.
- Quality and risk: Maintain appropriate oversight of client deliverables, ensuring work is accurate, timely and consistent with Howden’s professional, regulatory and risk requirements.
- Proposition development: Contribute ideas, market insight and practical experience to the continued evolution of Howden’s GBM proposition, tools and ways of working.
- Collaboration: Build strong relationships across Howden’s wider employee benefits and international businesses, connecting clients with relevant expertise and solutions where appropriate.

Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience within global or multinational employee benefits consulting, brokerage or a closely related environment.
- Experience managing multinational client relationships and taking ownership of complex global programmes.
- Strong knowledge of the multinational employee benefits landscape, including the challenges faced by global HR, Reward and Benefits teams.
- The ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
- Strong consulting skills, with the ability to understand a client’s objectives, analyse complex information and develop clear, practical recommendations.
- Experience coordinating colleagues and partners across multiple countries and cultures, with the confidence to challenge constructively and drive delivery where required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to make complex subjects clear and relevant to different audiences.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of client retention, relationship development and profitable growth.
- Experience contributing to new business activity, pitches and/or RFP responses.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support and develop less experienced colleagues.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex client requirements simultaneously.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, with the confidence to bring forward ideas, challenge established approaches and contribute to the continued development of a growing business.
