Senior Global Finance Manager
Octopus Energy is a rapidly growing, global energy business. We're looking for a Senior Global Finance manager who has a passion for helping support and grow a high, paced, global disruptor.
The Octopus Energy Group spans everything from Renewable Generation to domestic flexibility, and from domestic heat pumps to public EV charging. In total we are operating dozens of businesses in over 20 countries around the world - and we have a lot further to go.
We're looking for a motivated finance professional to work closely with our Group Corporate Finance Director. You’ll be responsible for delivering key accounting advice and implementation for high importance areas of the Group (e.g. fundraising, M&A, new geographies, new lines of business, internal restructures). Octopus has done 40+ deals in the past 5 years ranging from acquiring small retail businesses to launch Octopus in new markets, to a Joint Venture in Japan, to acquiring 3m customers in taking on Bulb and Shell’s UK retail businesses, and most recently to demerging Kraken Tech.
You'll need experience in local and international accounting standards and fast-paced, rapidly growing, global organisations.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with hands-on experience delivering accounting workstreams on strategic business initiatives.
At Octopus, we hire great people who can move quickly across a complex business. Being able to thrive in a fast-paced environment is super important for this role. In exchange you will be involved in some of the most important financial decisions and projects that we undertake.
What you'll do
- Provide technical accounting, financial advice and support for the most important strategic projects within the business, including in relation to debt facilities, key contracts, intercompany activity, and M&A
- Provide technical accounting advice to the group and business units within the audit process
- Ensure implementation of accounting excellence across the group covering a broad spectrum of new developments and initiatives in the group
- Lead on accounting for due diligence on M&A activities
- Work closely with our treasury, capital markets, legal and tax teams on project implementations
- Work closely with Group Reporting and auditors to ensure that any new projects are accurately disclosed in the financial statements
- Work, where necessary, with external advisors to support on key projects and for select pieces of advice

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
